Back in the past many have focused on drug and alcohol use in school students along with students carrying weapons to schools, and it seemed as if no one was recognizing the significance of school bullying. For victims of bullying, they go to school every day facing harassment, taunting, and humiliation. Kids today come home and kill themselves or never want to go back to school because of BULLYING. â€Å"Studies show that 25-35% of teens encountered some type of bullying in their lifetime (Nansel et al,).† Bullying is a form of violent behavior that happens not only in the schools but everywhere. Kids everywhere have been exposed to bullying in school for generations and ages . Although bullying has always been a factor the consequences for†¦show more content†¦The outcome of physical violence can cause a grave threat to those students who cannot defend themselves or dont know how to deal with bullies. Physical bullying can result in many extreme outcomes. The bully creates dangerous physical harm to their victims and in today society EVERY victim has a breaking point and retaliates in a violent way. Victims of bullying get thoughts of suicide, cutting themselves, low self esteem, and also wanting to become a bully because its happening to them. Unfortunately there are a lot of students and staff today and parents do not feel like their schools are a safe place to go because of the types of bullying that occur. Today there have been several devastating acts of school shootings that traumatizes the minds of staff and student . One of the examples of an bullied victim retaliation is of the kids from the Columbine shooting, where two kids who were bullied went on a murderous shooting rampage killing the lives of many at their schools and taking their own. Things like the Columbine shooting makes students afraid and scared to go to school. Schools today need to become a safe envir onment for students not a place of fear. There shouldn’t be one child in the United States to be afraid to go to school.
